Carolyn Macchia is a wife, mom, grandma of two boys, and keeper of one Weimaraner, 20-ish chickens and about 100,000 bees! After retiring from a career authoring eLearning courses for corporate training, she is thrilled to be writing for children. Her stories weave learning about nature into adventures that spark a curiosity to explore more. Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Brooks is a wife to Peter, sister, aunt, and friend. As a multi-award winning fine arts artist, a self-taught illustrator, hand-lettering artist, crafter, and card maker, she uses her creativity and humor to tell stories in each of her favored genres. She is the illustrator of the books NOODLE, DOODLE, FIDDLE, PIDDLE; PIPPA learns about GRAN’S Dementia, and has several illustrations in the book LINZI’s 61 and Holding RECIPES (proceeds going to The Alzheimer’s Foundation), and a multi-award winning fine arts artist, 9 time winner in the international The Graceful Envelope Contest, (founded by the Smithsonian in 1995, and facilitated by the Washington Calligraphers Guild with professional calligraphers as judges including some of The White House Calligraphers). She has even won a 2nd Place award in a recipe contest, with her own illustrated recipe. A former business executive, of a Fortune 500 company, Brooks holds an M.B.A. from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and a B.S. in Speech Pathology from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). To further her creative journey, Brooks has demonstrated and taught illustration and hand lettering.
